Thursday, 2 Jan 1834

JONES, Richard Jr. of Ebensburg and Prudence ROBERTS, daughter of Hugh of Cambria Twp., married this day by Rev. Morris JONES.

ANDERSON, Patience, wife of Andrew of Allegheny Twp on the 4th inst, at an advanced age. She was one of the earliest settlers of the district of Cambria County, in which she lately resided.

CROSSMAN, Samuel, schoolmaster, of near Browns Mills in Summerhill Twp, Cambria County, and his daughter, aged about 15, died an awful and sudden death Sunday evening last. Both were standing in the door of their small frame house, when a large tree blown down by a storm fell on the house and broke through it, killing them instantly. Their bodies could not be removed until the tree was cut and taken off them. Mrs. Crossman, a younger daughter, and an unidentified boarder were also much injured, but not mortally.

ALLISON, Thomas, of Indiana Co., died Wednesday, aged 82 years. A Revolutionary War soldier.

ROSS, John, one of the judges of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, died suddenly in Philadelphia, Saturday morning last.

DOW, Lorenzo, died 2 ins. at Georgetown, D.C.

ANDERSON, Andrew, formerly of Huntingdon County, but a resident of Cambria County for the last 32 years, died at his residence in Allegheny Twp. on the 4th inst, at an advanced age. His wife died only a few weeks before.

GILLIAN, Mary Ann, wife of Michael, of Summerhill Twp, aged about 21 years, died Wednesday, 12th inst.

KEYS, Mary, daughter of Mrs. KEYS of Ebensburg, aged about 3 years, died Saturday last.

SCOTT, John, one of the editors of this paper, and Hannah GRAY, daughter of James of Indiana County, and niece of Moses CANAN, Esq., of Ebensburg, married Tuesday last.

BARNARD, Isaac D., formerly Secretary of State under Governor SHULZE, and lately Senator from Pa, died 19th inst. at West Chester.

WIRT, William Esq., lawyer, formerly attorney general for the United States, and was a candidate for president at the last election, died in Washington City, Tuesday, 18th inst.

SAXTON, Joshua, one of the editors of the "Ohio Repository', and Margaret A. HEMPHILL, both formerly of Huntingdon, married 15 inst, at Huntingdon, by Rev. J. PEEBLES.

KERR, Elizabeth, only daughter of Ebenezer, Esq., died Sunday morning, 16th ult, at Pittsburgh, aged 18 years.

HARMON, John, died Tuesday last in the town of Munster, aged about 57 years.

BUCKMAN, Joseph K., died Tuesday last in Conemaugh Boro, aged about 27 years.

NOON, 4 children of Charles of Summerhill Twp., died from Scarlet fever. Two died on Saturday 1st inst, one on Monday, and the other on Tuesday.

ANDERLUI, Mary Ann, Wife of Charles, died in Ebensburg on Wednesday, 19th inst, aged about 22 years.

LITZINGER, George Jeremiah, son of Charles of Ebensburg, died yesterday, aged about 6 months.

WEBSTER, John, of Somerset, died Wednesday evening, 19th inst., in his 82nd year, after an illness of almost 2 months. He was postmaster since 1820, and was a captain in the artillery in the Pennsylvania Line during the Revolution, serving in battles of Germantown, Trenton, Brandywine, etc.

SOMMERVILLE, William, printer, died Monday, 24 inst, in Carlisle, after a lingering illness, aged 22 years.

SPRANKEL, John, and Elizabeth DILTZ, daughter of Peter, all of Mahoning Twp., Indiana County, married Thursday last.

KISSINGER, 9 children of Mr. KISSINGER of Toby Twp, Armstrong County, burnt to death when his house burned on Friday night last. Mr. KISSINGER, wife and 2 children were away at the time.

JONES, Thomas, fuller, and Jane JONES, daughter of John, all of near Ebensburg, married Thursday last, by Rev. George ROBERTS.

SEYMOUR, Samuel, died Friday, 9th inst, at Johnstown, aged about 50 years. He was well known as a good painter and engraver, and has left many memorials of his skill. He accompanied Colonel LONG in his expedition to the Rocky Mountains, in which he sketched its animals, etc. He was a resident of Cambria County for several years, living in penury and obscurity. His prospects were blighted by the demon of Intemperance.

BUCHANAN, Susan, widow of Col Matthew, formerly of Ebensburg, died Thursday evening last at Hollidaysburg in her 47th year.

FAYLE, Joshua, a respectable stranger said to be a native of Ireland, was killed in a Portage Railroad accident at Plane #1 on Saturday last.

MCCLELLAND, George, youngest son of Dr. John of Green Castle. He was thrown from his horse Tuesday morning last, and died from the injuries, aged 15 years. He was on business for his father. The accident occurred on Loudon Road, 6 or 8 miles from his home. He was a most promising and engaging youth.

GILLIAN, Michael, of Summerhill Twp, was crushed between two cars of the Portage Railroad and instantly killed on Monday last. He was sitting on the front part of a train of cars with several others. Left 4 small children, their mother having died only a few weeks since.
