Died at the home of her son in law, Mr. John G.C. Bearer in Carroll Township Cambria County, Mrs. Magdalena Hoppel, widow of Henry Hoppel, in the 76th year of her age.

The deceased was born in Germany, and was married to Mr. Hoppel in Chambersburg in 1842. From there, they removed to Cameron's Bottom Indiana County and thence about 1848 to Carroll Township, this county. The surviving children are: Henry Hoppel, Mrs. John Eger of Barr Township, Mrs. Joseph Bearer of Carroll Township, and Mrs. J.G.C. Bearer of Carroll Township.

BARNICLE -- Died at the residence of Mr. T. D. Luther in Gallitizin on Friday, August 19, 1887, Mr. Joseph Barnicle, son of Mr. John Barnicle of Susquehanna Township, aged about 21 years.

Mr. Joseph Preiser and Miss Katie Kreitzer, of Blacklick Township, were married at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, at Nicktown on Tuesday. We acknowledge the receipt of an invitation to attend the wedding and the dance that followed, but we could not attend. We wish the young couple a long and happy live.

Mr. Samuel Weakland died at the home of his son, Anselm Weakland in Elder Township in the 82nd year of his life. He was born near the town of Loretto in 1805. He was the son of John and Catherine (Jackson) Weakland and was the last of seven brothers. He was the father of Anselm of Elder Township; John and Mrs. [Catherine] James Kirkpatrick, both of Carroll Township; and Levi of Somerset County. He was buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
