SKULL CRUSHED BY A BARROW
Daniel Powell, of Morrellville, Fatally Injured at the Bessemer Steel Works This Morning
About 3 o'clock this morning, while Dr. W. B. Lowman was at the Cambria Hospital attending Mr. Anthony Glosser, he received a message from the Cambria Bessemer Steel Works summoning him to attend Daniel Powell, who had been injured. Upon repairing to the office of the works, to which Powell was taken after his injury, the Doctor found that his skull had been crushed. The man was insensible and apparently dying. Everything was done for him that was possible, and he was taken in the ambulance to his home in Morrellville, where he died in a short time. The injury was inflicted by an empty stocking barrow which fell from the top of a hoist, a height of probably sixty feet, and struck the unfortunate man in its descent. Powell leaves a wife and one child. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Foresters of America and of the Knights of the Mystic Chain.
POWELL- In Morrellville on Thursday morning, October* 7, 1889, Daniel Powell, aged 26 years. Funeral tomorrow afternoon at half past 2 o'clock; interment in Grandview.
