|Mrs. Archibald Johns--Catherine (Albaugh) Johns, wife of Archibald Johns, of Jackson Township, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Samuel M. Stiffler, of 282 Corrine street, Twentieth Ward, aged 70. She had been in poor health since March of last year. Her death was due to a complication of ailments. Short funeral services will be held at the Stiffler home at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, after which the body will be taken to the D street Church of the Brethren, where the sermon will be preached by the Rev. C. C. Sollenberger. Interment wll be in the Benshoff Cemetery in West Taylor Township. |
Miss Catherine Albaugh and Archibald Johns were married in this city by the late Justice Irvin Rutledge in March 1871, and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary a few months ago with their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many of their acquaintances. Surviving are her husband and the following children: Florence M., wife of Samuel M. Stiffler, Oakhurst, at whose home she died; Harry B. Johns, and Margaret, wife of L. J. Rager, Lower Yoder Township; Lettie M., wife of Adolphus Edwards, Baltimore; Millie G., wife of L. D. Manning, Centralia, Wash.; Cevilla, wife of Albert Handlon, Wehrum; John E., Centralia, Wash.; Daisy C., wife of John Witcovski, Mineral Point; Charles C. Johns, Vintondale; Eva, wife of Joseph Thomas, Saltsburg; George W. Johns, Vintondale, and Edna I., widow of Crawford Wagner, Woodvale. Virginia Bell, the 13th child of Mr. and Mrs. Johns, died in infancy. Mrs. Johns also is survived by 67 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
