Leo Parrish, one of the oldest residents of Cambria County and who was baptized by Father Gallitzin, prince-priest of the Alleghenies, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Lantz at Spangler in his 85th year. Mr. Parrish was born near Munster and had resided in Cambria County all his life except the time he spent while serving his country during the War of the Rebellion. He enlisted in Co. D, 135th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers and was badly wounded in the battle of Chancellorsville, May 3, 1863. Returning from the war he followed the pursuits of a farmer. His wife died August 21, 1901. He is survived by 7 children, 43 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. The burial took place in the Catholic cemetery at Carrolltown, October 30th.
