Mrs. E. W. Baumgardner, wife of County Commissioner, attended the funeral of a brother while she was visiting with relatives in Goshen, Ind.
Joseph Yoder, the brother who died, was born in Somerset County, February 28, 1840, and was the last of six children. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having enlisted at the beginning of the war in Company K, 206th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, and remained in the service until the end of the war.
On November 26, 1865, Mr. Yoder married Lovina Weaver, of Richland Township, Cambria County. The following children survive: Emanuel, Milton, and Mrs. Amanda Stahl, all of Bowne, Mich., and Mrs. Sarah Dunmyre of Butler, Mo.
Mr. Yoder went to Michigan in 1866 and died at the home of his son Emanuel. He was a member of the Mennonite Church for 40 years. One brother, Tobias Yoder, lives in Pittsburg, and there are two sisters in addition to Mrs. E. W. Baumgardner, as follows: Mrs. Anna Weaver, of Scalp Level, and Miss Eliza Yoder of Johnstown. |
