REV. DR. HUMMEL DIES UNEXPECTANTLY

The Rev. Dr. Franklin P. Hummel, Pastor of the Methodist Protestant Church of Morgantown, W.Va., died at his home in that city on January 20, 1916, aged 58 years. The Rev. Hummel took sick on Sunday night. During the evening he preached a very able sermon upon the theme "Found Wanting". Following his sermon a hymn was sung, after which he pronounced the benediction, collapsing on the pulpit immediately after finishing with the "Amen". He was carried by churchmen to the parsonage, where he remained unconscious until death the following Thursday.

The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. David Hummel and was born in Shade Township, Somerset County. He was a brother of Joseph R. Hummel, Joshua Hummel and Mrs. David Shaffer (Mary Amanda Hummel), all of Dale Borough. The remains were taken to Pittsburgh last Monday for burial in the Homestead Cemetery. A number of Johnstown'ers attended the services in Pittsburgh. Dr. Hummel was pastor of the Methodist Protestant Church at Uniontown for 20 years before going to Morgantown.
