SOURCE NOTATION:
Cambria Freeman, 22June1900, Contributed by Lisa Baker

Frank Kearns, an Italian, was instantly killed about 3 o’clock on Monday afternoon while at work in the Gautier department of the Cambria Steel company at Johnstown. Kearns was employed as an assistant leverman at the “skull-cracker” in the stock yard. He had just dropped a weight on some old steel, a piece of which flew into the air and dislodged a plank, which struck the foreigner on the back of the head and killed him instantly. The foreigner is survived by his wife and four children who reside in Italy.
