Summerhill Neighbors for 40 years Die Within Short time of Each Other
Special to the Tribune
Summerhill, April 10 -- Death last evening summoned two of Summerhill's oldest residents, when Mrs. Rachel Matilda Nipps, aged 84, and her neighbor and friend, Mrs. Catherine Rorabaugh, aged 78, passed away within a short time of each other. The women had been neighbors and friends here for more than 40 years.
A double funeral service will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Summerhill Lutheran Church, with the Rev. F. S. Schultz officiating. The body of Mrs. Rorabaugh will be interred in the church cemetery, while that of Mrs. Nipps will be buried in the Pringle Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Catherine Rorabaugh was born in Indiana County, being a daughter of James and Anna (Anderson) Lydic, both deceased. She and Henry J. Rorabaugh, who survived, were married 55 years ago. The deceased was a sister of Mrs. Margaret Reatmiller and Mrs. Della Allison, both of Indiana, and Miss Carrie Lydic, of this place.
Mrs. Rachel Nipps had been making her home here with her nephew, Benjamin Pringle. She was a daughter of Allan and Rebecca (Flenner) Sharp, both deceased. Her husband, William Nipps, preceded her to the grave four years ago. She is survived by a brother, Joseph Sharp, of Wilmore and two step-children, Mrs. Elizabeth Bruich, of Johnstown and John Nipps, of Lakewood O.
