Mrs. Mary Harlan was found dead in her home at No. 118 Peter street, Ninth Ward, yesterday morning about 3 o'clock by one of her daughters. Mrs. Harlan was seventy-three years of age. She was a sufferer from asthma and heart trouble and had been unable to leave her bed for three days. Previous to that time she has been able to walk about the ho use and had attended church on New Year's Day. She appeared to be resting comfortably at 2 o'clock yesterday morning, but an hour later she was dead. Her death was apparently very easy and devoid of pain. She and Mr. Harlan were married in this city. Nine children blessed their union, and six of these are living, as follows: Jennie and Mary, single and at home; Mrs. Edward Kerns, of East Liberty, Pittsburg; Andrew, married and residing on Bedford Street, and a member of the police force; John, single and at home. One grandchild, Rose Marie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christ Harlan, also survives. Mrs. Mary Harlan was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held over her remains in that edifice at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning. Interment will follow in the cemetery at Geistown. |
