Remarks:   POPCHAK – James, 74, of Brownstown, entered eternal peace February 28, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center. Born September 11, 1946, in Johnstown the son of John R., Sr. and Catherine (Milchak) Popchak. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Jr. and Bernard Popchak; infant sister, Rosemary; brother-in-law, Francis Olshewsky and sister-in-law, Sharon Popchak. Survived by his loving wife, Kathleen (LaPorte) Popchak; children, Melanie, married to Christopher Helfrich; Jill, married to Steve Prosdocimo; and Adam, married to Kirsten Hogg; grandchildren: Nate, Noah, Mia, Rocco, Kayla, Izzy and Iain; sister, Mary Kay Olshewsky; and brothers, Richard, married to Nancy (Koontz); Thomas, married to Donna (DeBartola); Raymond. Jim was retired from Laurel Management after 38 years of service and a lifetime member and past president of the Brownstown Fire Company. Jim had a smile that could light up the room and was fondly referred to by his family as “Jimmy Fix It” for his ability to fix anything. He will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father and pappy who will be missed by all who knew him. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street where vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Those attending the visitation and funeral Mass are asked to wear a mask. Brownstown the Very Rev. Mark S. Begly, VF.
