William Laird, aged 73 years, whose home was at 225 School place, First Ward, died suddenly of apoplexy at the steel car shop in the Franklin plant of the Cambria Steel Company about noon today. The body was turned over to Undertaker John Pendry and will be removed to the Laird residence this evening.
The deceased was born in the State of Maryland, but had made his home in this vicinity for many years. His wife, Rosanna (Penrod) Laird, died in the First Ward about seven years ago. She was the youngest sister of John J. Penrod, who passed away recently at his residence in Kernville.
William Laird is survived by a son, Clarence Laird, who is in the West, and by three daughters, Mrs. Joseph Taylor, of Pittsburg, and Misses Edith and Florence Laird, both at home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
