DIED: At Chattanooga, Tennessee, on the 18th inst., Dr. Robert Montgomery Smith Jackson, aged probably 50 years. At the time of his death, and for a year or more prior, the deceased was Medical Director in the Department of the Tennessee. He resided at Cresson, this county, and was widely known and esteemed as an educated, talented, and high-toned gentleman, while as a doctor of medicine he ranked second to none. He was the author of a book entitled, "The Mountain," published some six or eight years ago ago, the mirth-provoking eccentricities of which, coupled with its manifest profunditity of thought and vividnesss of description, won for it much attention. After lifes fitful fever, may he sleep well.
